FLAEYC 2019-20 PUBLIC POLICY PLATFORM LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES

 

Support adequate funding to provide Florida’s young children with safe, high-quality early childhood education that includes a developmentally appropriate curriculum tied to state standards and authentic assessmentmeasures.

Florida’s families must have equitable access to high-quality early care and education programs.

In order to accomplish this, FLAEYC supports:

  • State-wide Program Assessment
  • Developmentally Appropriate Practices
  • Promotion of Accreditation and Gold Seal
  • Authentic Assessment Measures

 

Support Early Childhood Professionals with a professional pathway, leading to a degreed lead teacher in each classroom with adequate compensation.

A system must be established to attract and retain high quality educators at this critical stage of children’s early brain development in order to enable future learning success.

In order to accomplish this, FLAEYC supports:

  • Standardized Competencies for Professionals
  • Clearly Defined Professional Pathway & Career Ladder
  • Professional Registry System
  • Adequate Compensation for Degreed and Credentialed Teachers

 

Support state and federal initiatives that promotes inclusive, yet diverse, early childhood programs, benefiting all of Florida’s children.

Stronger, collaborative partnerships must be formed, supporting cross-sector work that effectively and efficiently meets the needs of all Florida’s families and the professionals that serve them.

In order to accomplish this, FLAEYC supports:

  • Voluntary Prekindergarten & School Readiness
  • Intervention and Inclusion Services
  • Health Programs and Initiatives
